How to Cook Couscous
Couscous takes less time to cook compare to most pasta and rice. Though they have the same nutritional value but Pasta is cooked by boiling while couscous is steamed.
Some people like to eat it boiled but you can enjoy it better with vegetables. You can learn how to cook couscous with ease with this tasty recipe I’m about to share. You, your family and guests will definitely crave for more. Have a nice time.
Ingredients
Couscous
Beef or chicken stock
Chopped carrots
Chopped green pepper (green tatashe)
Green beans
Chopped spring onions
Chopped (boiled) cow liver
Sweet corn
Pepper
Chicken
Vegetable oil
Salt to taste
Knorr/ Maggi Cubes
Curry Powder
Thyme
Preparation
1.Boil the beef/chicken stock, remove from burner, add couscous and cover. Set aside for five minutes, by then the couscous would have soaked up the stock. Then fluff the couscous with fork.
2.Place a pot or pan on the burner. Add vegetable oil and heat slightly, add the chopped liver to fry, scoop and set aside.
3.Add the chopped spring onions, carrots, green beans, and green pepper (green tatashe) including sweet corn, then stir.
4. Now add the curry powder, thyme,and knorr/ maggi cubes, fried liver, salt to taste and stir again.
5. Then pour the fluffed couscous into the vegetables and mix together,leave to steam for 2 minutes
on low heat. Then your couscous is ready.
6. Serve with fried chicken, plantain and salad.
